After losing her children and husband in 2020, Jajja Nakyese (68) of Kidda village felt hopeless and lost. But everything changed when Nakintu Mangdalena, a Contact Grannie, introduced her to Kitovu Mobile’s program. Through group savings, credit, and counseling, Jajja Nakyese found a new lease on life.
With the support of her solidarity group, Zinunula Omunaku, Jajja Nakyese gained confidence and hope. She began participating in group activities, finding opportunities to earn and overcome depression. Her savings enabled her to upgrade her home from a grass-thatched hut to an iron-sheet roofed house and even construct a local kitchen.
Today, Jajja Nakyese is grateful for the program that transformed her life. She says, “I can never leave the group; it’s the reason I smile with hope.” Her story is a testament to the power of community and support in overcoming adversity.
