BRIEF PROFILE ABOUT KITOVU MOBILE

Kitovu Mobile (KM), is a not-for profit, faith-based non-discriminatory organization founded in 1987 by the Medical Missionaries of Mary (MMM) sisters with an aim of alleviating the psychosocial, health and economic consequences of HIV/AIDS scourge among individuals, families and communities in Masaka, Sembabule, Rakai and Lyantonde districts.

Over the past 35 years, KM has transformed from one project of Home-Based Care into a multi-project centered organization empowering marginalized families and communities with operations in eight (8) districts of greater Masaka region, particularly Bukomansimbi, Lwengo, Masaka, Kyotera, Sembabule, Rakai, Lyantonde and Kalungu.  KM was registered in 2013 as a company limited by guarantee under the Registered Trustees of Masaka Diocese.

Todate, KM remains an ambitious, transparent, inspiring, innovating and outstanding health and development organization with a wide-ranging set of goals and strategies to improve health and wellbeing marginalized communities in greater Masaka districts.

What Does the Organization Focus On


  1. Reducing the number of new HIV infections by 10% among youth, adults and children in greater Masaka by end of 2027.
  2. Decreasing HIV-associated morbidity and mortality through achieving 95% viral load suppression among Kitovu Mobile HIV/TB clients by end of 2027.
  3. Mitigating the health and psychosocial effects among the general population through palliative care, cancer screening services and general medical services by end of 2027.
  4. Reducing vulnerability to HIV/AIDS and mitigation of its impact through education and economic strengthening to other vulnerable groups by end of 2027.
  5. Strengthening the institutional management systems of KM to plan, coordinate, innovate and evaluate integrated programmatic responses to community empowerment and sustainability by end of 2027.
