SENTONGO TONY’S JOURNEY TO EMPOWERMENT THROUGH THE MOBILE FARM SCHOOL
Sentongo Tony, a 19-year-old from Busoga Parish, Kyamuliibwa Subcounty of Kalungu District, was uncertain about his future after dropping out of school. However, his life changed when he joined the Mobile Farm School (MFS) program by Kitovu Mobile in 2023. Initially skeptical about agriculture, Tony was encouraged by the program’s potential and decided to give it a try.
Through MFS, Tony gained hands-on training in organic farming, liquid soap production, and financial management. He also participated in counseling sessions and learned about child rights and behavioral change. Tony’s commitment to the program was unwavering, and he applied his new skills to start small business ventures, including liquid soap production and farming.

Tony’s farm grew steadily, and he added piggery and poultry projects. He also made organic manure, generating extra income. The MFS program taught Tony the importance of saving, and he now saves weekly through a savings group. This has given him financial independence and a sense of responsibility.
The program has also positively impacted Tony’s family, as he shares his knowledge and skills with his siblings. Tony plans to expand his projects, purchase his own land, and contribute to his community’s economic development. He is grateful for the MFS program, saying,
“Kitovu Mobile has been like a second parent to me, offering guidance and empowerment that has changed my life.”
Tony’s story showcases the transformative power of youth empowerment through agriculture, demonstrating that with the right support, anyone can overcome uncertainty and create a brighter future.
