Namukaaya Jennifer, a 27-year-old from Njala B village, Kabira Subcounty in Kyotera District, faced significant challenges growing up. After her education was cut short due to financial struggles, she was forced into a marriage at a young age. However, her life took a dramatic turn when she joined the Mobile Farm School (MFS) program in 2023. Initially sceptical, Jennifer was encouraged by Kitovu Mobile staff and discovered a new passion for sustainable farming.

Through MFS, Jennifer gained valuable skills in farming techniques, behaviour change, saving, and HIV/AIDS awareness. She applied these skills to improve her family’s nutrition and generate income. Her hard work paid off, earning over 700,000 UGX from green pepper farming, which enabled her family to pay school fees and clear debts.
Jennifer’s perspective on farming shifted, and she now sees it as a sustainable way of life. She plans to expand her piggery, start poultry farming, and open a small business. Jennifer encourages other parents to support their children in joining the MFS program, grateful for the life-changing impact it has had on her family.
“Thank you to Kitovu Mobile and KNH for showing us the way and encouraging us to embrace agriculture,”
Jennifer says, acknowledging the program’s transformative impact on her life.
